FOOTLOOSE HIKING ADVENTURE |
 |
| DAY 1 | Meet your host at Namibia’s International airport. Your first night’s stop is approximately an hour’s drive from the airport, allowing you time to acclimatize and relax after a long flight. Country-style dinner. | | DAY 2 | You are now also at the site of the longest cave in Namibia (4,5 km), a guided cave tour is included. After a "clean-up" and freshening, continue
to the perimeter of the Khomas Hochland (our central highlands) and a
guest farm - well-known for its hiking trails. | | DAY 3 | Entire day to spend on the many hiking trails available.
End your day on a Game drive. | | DAY 4 | A
leisurely breakfast this morning before travelling towards the edge of the
escarpment. On arrival, take a few minutes to appreciate the expanse of the Namib at your feet. Descend into the desert towards
your first Namib venue and arrive in time for a light lunch. A short siesta
during the hottest part of the day might be advisable, before attempting your
first, free hike on the premises. The highlight of your safari, as this is the
only venue during the journey where you will be offered a night drive after
dinner, to seek out nocturnal desert wildlife. | | DAY 5 | Entire day to
explore the free hiking trails and experience the vastness of the Namib
Desert's mountains and grassland savannahs. | | DAY 6 | Before moving on to your next venue, you still have time for a short hike,
then continue to a campsite for lunch. Arrive at a desert nature camp in time to stretch your legs and join a nature drive. | | DAY 7 | Entire day to enjoy guided hikes in this area of the Namib and end your day with a sundowners drive. | | DAY 8 | Again a short journey to arrive at a Moroccan-styled tented camp just after lunch. After being shown to your tent and allowing lunch to settle, explore the geologically historic Sesriem Gorge on a short hike before dinner - served al fresco on the terrace with paraffin/kerosene lamps lit after sunset. Dine while viewing desert wildlife quenching their thirst at a floodlit waterhole. | | DAY 9 | Be woken before
sunrise to travel along the Tsauchab River Valley towards Sossusvlei and some of the highest sand dunes in the world. After viewing the changing colours of the landscape as the sun rises, descend and enjoy a picnic brunch under age-old Camel thorn trees. Return to the Lodge for a quick freshening up. All good things must, however, also come to an end and you have to return to Windhoek today. Not to let the transition to civilization be too much of a shock
to your system, you will spend tonight at a small Game Lodge en-route to the airport. Should you feel up to it, join a sundowners drive
for a final glimpse of our sunset on this, your last night in Namibia,
Africa. | | DAY 10 | Subject to flight departure time, you may have all morning for a few nature walks or hikes on the premises, or simply relax on a pool chair, viewing wildlife at the waterhole. Transfer to Namibia’s International airport to arrive in time for your departure flight. |
