Family owned, Nile Horseback Safaris also welcomes children to learn to ride. Why not drop the kids off in the morning while you check into one of Jinja’s beautiful lodges for the weekend and we’ll drop them off later in the day! Or just chill out and read a book in a hammock on our beautiful lawns overlooking the Nile. Anything is possible - just call us to arrange your weekend away. We are based near to Jinja, the source of the White Nile, an easy hour and a quarter drive east of Kampala. Take the road opposite Nile Breweries towards Kayunga, travel for 4 (four) kilometres and turn right at our sign. Follow the dirt track and you’ll find us right beside the river.
| ITINERARY OVERVIEW DAY 1: This safari leaves from our property and treks approximately 15km down river to The Haven Riverside Lodge. You pass through local villages, areas of crops and jungle where you will see spectacular bird life, hopefully some monkeys, and if you are really lucky some of the more elusive animals, like mongoose and water monitors. There is also the opportunity to take your horse swimming in the Nile at a beautiful sandy bottomed bay if you are so inclined. You and your horse stay overnight at the Haven, your luggage will be waiting for you when you arrive. Take an afternoon fishing trip, a sunset cruise or just relax with a book while overlooking one of the biggest rapids on the Nile. Fantastic meals await you thanks to the Haven's talented European chef. | C | LUXURY OVERNIGHT SAFARI

| | DAY 2: After a big breakfast, set off on the return journey. You trek an alternate route on the way back through Mabira forest, sugar and tea plantations and over some spectacular views on top of the mountains overlooking the Nile valley. We ensure all your luggage is transported to and from the lodge by car, leaving you free to enjoy your ride. We also provide secure overnight parking for your vehicle. We do recommend experienced riders for this safari as the route encompasses swamps, creek crossings and jungle riding. You will also be in the saddle for about roughly 8 hours in total over your trip. |
