Meet
your host at Namibia's International airport and transfer
to a comfortable B&B on the outskirts of Windhoek to
rest from the long flight and acclimatize to Namibia. |
|
|
|
|
After
breakfast, travel along the perimeter of the Khomas Hochland (our central highlands),
towards the
very edge of the Escarpment and experience the
vista of the Namib desert at your feet. Descend
into the Namib for a quick fuel stop. Enjoy a
slice of Solitaire's world famous apple
pie with your tea/coffee while you wait. Continue
towards your first desert venue. Late afternoon,
explore the geologically historic Sesriem Gorge.
Accommodation in a Moroccan-styled tented camp, with
dinner served al fresco on the terrace with
paraffin/kerosene lamps lit after sunset. Dine while
viewing desert wildlife quenching their thirst at a
floodlit waterhole - under the glittering canopy of
the Southern
Skies. |

Be
woken at dawn to travel along the Tsauchab
River valley towards some of the highest sand
dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. Arrive at the
first accessible dunes and climb them for the
experience of a lifetime. See how the rising
sun paints the landscape in shadow and light,
with colours of earth tone ranging from the
softest pastels to a deep orange. Descend when
ready and enjoy brunch under age-old Camel
thorn trees. Return to camp to freshen up
before continuing to a comfortable desert guest farm
for the night. Should you feel up to it, this is your first opportunity for a night
Game drive to search out the nocturnal animals of the desert. |

Today you traverse
the endless gravel plains of the central Namib
towards Namibia's premier holiday town.
Enjoy a picnic lunch en-route - in the middle of
nowhere! Arrive by late
afternoon. If you are seafood lovers,
Swakopmund is it! |
|
|
|
|
Entire
day at own leisure to browse around
the German-colonial shops and
architecture; visit places of
interest; view the largest mineral
crystal cluster ever unearthed to
date; laze around on the beach or
partake of any of a number of optional
activities
offered by private operators. (To view some of these activities and their
relevant prices, please click here). |

An earlier start today to travel
on a salt-surfaced road along the coast towards one of the larger Cape Fur Seal
colonies on the Skeleton Coast. Swing back into the Interior, towards the
highest mountain peak in Namibia, the Brandberg. Accommodation tonight is in the
shadow of the mountain, in permanent tents. |
|
|
|
|
An
area often
referred to as
Landscapes
of the Soul, is what you
will travel through today towards
a very rustic Damaraland camping
site. You will need most of the afternoon
to fully comprehend that you are
not dreaming - this
is
Damaraland! End your day with a sunset drive. |
|
|
|
|
Start
your day with a guided hike, and keep in mind that a nature drive through this
pristine wilderness, is also included during the day. |
|
|
|
|
Depart from Damaraland - albeit
reluctantly - to continue towards a Safari camp just outside the Etosha National
Park. Accommodation in safaris tents. |
|
|
|
|
Enter
the gates to
Etosha as early as
possible for a
day's Game viewing
within the Okaukuejo area of the Park. Return to camp before sunset. |
|
|
|
|
Entire day for a slow wildlife
viewing drive, to arrive at the centre rest camp of the Park in time for lunch.
Continue towards the historic Fort Namutoni to exit there before sunset and
arrive at a lodge in time to freshen up before dinner. |
|
|
|
|
As you leave Etosha today, visit
the mysterious Lake Otjikoto. To shorten the distance back to Windhoek, stop
over at a small mountain lodge en-route. After dinner, join a night drive to
search out the nocturnal animals of the Namibian bush. |
|
|
|
|
Unfortunately,
all good
things
also come
to an end
and you
have to
return to
Windhoek
today. But
not to
make the
transition
to civilization
too harsh, your accommodation tonight will be at a Game Lodge en-route to
the airport. If you feel up to it, join a sundowners nature drive for a final
view of our Namibian sunset, on this, your last night in Namibia, Africa. |
